Brian Uhler, a lawyer in Chicago, virtually visited EPHS Jackie Regnier’s AP Government classes to talk about the United States Constitution during Constitution Week. Uhler, a University of Chicago and Columbia Law School graduate, shared a presentation about the importance of the US Constitution in US elections, supplementing Regnier’s recent lessons.

Part of Uhler’s presentation included “the rules of the game” for Congress and who can vote in elections and who can run for office.

“Brian provided insights into constitutional electoral innovations, some of which were new to me as well,” said Regnier. “It provided the students further explanation as to why the government is structured the way it is, and why it matters.”

Student Yeimi Alday said with the class already focusing on this topic, hearing the perspective of someone with experience emphasized the Constitution’s significance.

“For me it made me realize that this is a huge part of what the government relies on,” said Alday.

Following the conclusion of Uhler’s presentation, he answered student inquiries including giving insight into navigating law school and pursuing a legal career.

District 401 is grateful for Uhler’s guest presentation and thanks him for his appearance.
