Walk-A-Thon Raises Over $10,000 For Elmwood Elementary

The Elmwood Elementary Walk-A-Thon took place last Friday, October 3rd, and was a complete success! Raising over $10,000 for Elmwood Elementary this year, the event continues to make a lasting impact. It is the PATT’s largest fundraiser and helps pay for many things throughout the school year such as assemblies, classroom celebrations, extra supplies, student and parent events, and more. It contributes to all of the "extra things" that make Elmwood special. With beautiful weather, matching t-shirts, energetic music, and smiles all around, the day couldn’t have been better!

Kindergarten through 5th grade, students walked the route from Belden to Bloomingdale Streets, stopping along the way to enjoy the excitement at each themed corner. Volunteers lined the sidewalks with cheers, signs, and encouragement, creating an atmosphere full of joy and school spirit. Neighbors watched gleefully as the kids walked by, with a fun surprise made by Assistant Principal Stephanie Hagins’ family members. “Each year my family watches from my Aunt Connie’s House, it’s perfectly situated on the route. This year my mom and my youngest son were there as well to wave at all the kids and cheer them on.”

Another exciting part of the day was the hot dog lunch! For a $5 donation, students enjoyed a tasty meal that added to the fun energy of the event. A special shoutout goes to parents Mr. and Mrs. Cardona, who volunteered to help serve lunch—even though their children have already moved on to middle school!

We could not have done it without the incredible support of our staff and community volunteers. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together to celebrate Elmwood pride and make this year’s Walk-A-Thon such a memorable day. With dance parties, bubbles, silly string, and even appearances from superheroes, this event truly had it all—and it’s one we will remember for years to come!
