Elmwood Park High School educates students in grades 9th through 12th. We are the Tigers and our school colors are black and gold.
All of our students must be residents of Elmwood Park, Ill., a Near West Chicago suburb with a population of about 25,000.
As part of Elmwood Park Community Unit School District 401, we are the District's only high school. We offer a rigorous four-year curriculum within the framework of our College & Career Pathways program.
The faculty, staff and administration of EPHS and the Board of Education are committed to providing a comprehensive high school education that, through its curricular and extracurricular programs, meets the individual and collective interests and needs of its students and prepares them to be productive citizens of a diverse, global and interdependent society.
In particular, this learning community is committed to the flexible teaching and scheduling patterns and resources necessary to stretch each student to the limits of his/her academic and personal potential, and to providing the knowledge, problem-solving and personal skills required for post-secondary education, employment, leisure and family life.
Graduates should be grounded in our American heritage of respect for human dignity and optimism regarding their role in improving the quality of life for all people.
Our Academics and Support Services
We provide instruction in the core academic subjects of English, mathematics, science and social studies — including opportunities to take honors and AP courses.
Our students also receive instruction in physical education and health, and they may pursue electives in art, business, foreign language and music. Students may also take dual-credit classes from Triton College in almost 20 different subject areas, including automotive technology, criminal justice, engineering technology, fashion merchandising and nursing.
EPHS's support programs include instruction for English learners, assistance for students with reading difficulties, services for special education students and accommodations for Section 504 students. Our counseling office provides students with individualized guidance on college and career options, and our library offers digital and hard-copy resources for doing research papers and other class projects.
Our Athletics Program
EPHS belongs to the Illinois High School Association, and our interscholastic sports teams compete in the Metro Suburban Conference.
During the fall season the Elmwood Park Tigers participate in cheerleading, boy's and girl's cross country, football, golf, boy's soccer, girl's tennis and girl's volleyball.
During the winter our student-athletes participate in boy's and girl's basketball, cheerleading, pom-poms and wrestling.
During the spring season, our year ends with baseball, girl's soccer, softball, boy's and girl's track and field, and boy's volleyball.
Comprehensive coverage of our student-athletes can be found on the EPHS Athletics website.
